About Us
History
20+ Years of Volleyball in the High Country
Our purpose is to provide a team environment where our players are encouraged and come to love the game of volleyball. We then want to help those players develop their skill in a competitive environment and achieve their personal and team goals at the highest level. Ultimately, we hope to provide the opportunity for players be recruited and play the game beyond their time in our community.
How We Got Started
The concept of Appalachian Volleyball Club started back in the year 2000 when Kim Pryor, Watauga High School’s head coach, and Chris Redding, Appalachian State’s head volleyball coach at the time, joined forces and saw the need for a developmental and travel volleyball program in our small community. They hit the ground running and the club started as Appalachian Avalanche then changed names to become Club Synergy under the direction of Kris Hagaman. In 2019, Kim Pryor took the reins back over and settled on the name Appalachian Volleyball Club.
